- Blocked From Impersonating in Chili But Eyes USA For Further
Studies
By IO Fossung
Rev. Donald Ndichafah is no more
the General Secretary (GS) of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC. He signed
official documents to hand over at the Nkwen Baptist Centre Saturday June 23,
2012. The next day, a church service at the CBC headquarters was transformed
into a send-off of Ndichafah. Yet, Chronicle
gathered that though out, Ndichafah still has roots within CBC. Accordingly his
handing over was hastily done: that Ndichafah preferred to attend a world
Baptist conferment at Chili from July 02, 2012 before he hands over, yet he was
cut-short. Critics however say Ndichafah wanted to exploit his presence at the
Chili conclave to thereon easily sail to the United States of America for
further studies.
A staunch
Baptist faithful told Chronicle last
weekend that the Soppo field in the South West region was for Ndichafah. He
posited that 45 churches of the Soppo field had contributed huge sums for
Ndichafah to use in his studies in USA.
Allegations are
rife that Ndichafah had opted for CBC to sponsor his trip to attend the world
conference, so that from there; he easily zooms to USA to pursue his studies. Yet,
most CBC Christians who know whom Ndichafah is have been critical of the fact
that he still wants CBC to sponsor him for studies abroad. Accordingly,
Ndichafa’s wife runs a private clinic in Yaounde,
which he has not only created a mark but openly boast how he is in fine fettle.
A controversy
erupted over why Ndichafah had secured a visa to represent CBC at the CBC
conclave. It was moreso, given that he had to quit office as General Secretary
June 24 whereas the conference holds from July 2, 2012.
Ndichafah was
even accused for refusing to hand power and frustrating his successor from
enjoying the privileges which he is due. Having secured a visa, Ndichafah
mounted pressure on CBC financial authorities to sponsor his Chili trip, yet,
they stood their grounds.
Rev Godwin
Ncham received documents last Saturday June 23. Chronicle gathered amongst the thorny files Rev Ncham inherited, is
the controversial review of the CBC constitution. It would be under Rev Ncham
that the committee would sit and fox out a way forward.
South West
fields want a rotation of the key positions between them and North West. Ahead of Ndichafah’s handing
over, Chronicle gathered that South
West fields were allegedly ‘bribed’: that at the General council of CBC held
three (3) days before Ndichafah’s handing-over, some in-house adjustments were
made by the new GS, Godwin Ncham.
In line with
the new appeasement agenda, Rev Samuel Ndi Etongue was appointed as the new
Board Chairman of Evangelism just as Rev Lobe Bernard, confirmed as President
of the Seminary in Kumba.
The new GS
would grapple with pressure from the coastal fields to allow one of theirs to
become the GS. So far, those projected to succeed Rev Ncham in 4 years time
include Rev Dr. Paul Wosse Mokake; Rev Samuel Etonge Ndeli and even Rev Bernard
Lobe.
Ndichafah is
out, yet the official installation/induction of the new GS is yet to be
programmed. This would be done alongside the dedication of the CBC President
and Vice, Joe Chebonkeng Kalabutse and Betty Luma respectively.
