According to
William James, “Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming
the consequences of any misfortune.” Rev Emmanuel Anyambod
has had a spate of misfortunes in a twinkle of an eye. Yet he has accepted his fate with equanimity. As a man of God he knows fervently well that God has a reason for everything that happens. He has just been undiplomatically relieved of his functions as Rector of the Protestant University of Central Africa. This is a terrible blow to him as he seems to have lost everything in his career. If it was only his sacking from the University that he had to grapple with, then it would not have been a major problem. What is causing him and his acquaintances sleepless nights is the fact that his future is bleak even within the Presbyterian Church. However, Rev Anyambod was on bonus time at UPAC. His tenure of five years long ended, and he even expressed the wish to quit. While at UPAC, Rev Emmanuel Anyambod did not hide his feeling about the rottenness of the structure he was at the helm. His replacement might even be welcomed by him and his entourage, especially those who wanted sanity to prevail in UPAC, but were unable to push through any reforms because of the organigramme of UPAC And it came to pass that Timothée Bouba Mbima who was the Secretary General of the Protestant University while Rev Emmanuel Anyambod was rector was appointed by the Board of Directors of
UPAC to replace Rev Emmanuel Anyambod at the helm of the institution. Thus the
baton of command has shifted from the Anglophones to the Francophones. This subtle
shift though looking natural and innocent has underlying implications as it further illustrates Anglophone marginalization. Even if Rev Emmanuel Anyambod had to be shown the exit door because of the assassination of a French lecturer why could another Anglophone not replace him? The death of the French lecturer at UPAC caused a diplomatic incidence between Cameroon and France. Rev Anyambod seems to have been sacrificed to sweeten the plates of the French, but why sacrifice an innocent Man of God whose hands are clean to settle a diplomatic wrangle, many are asking? By and large, what awaits Rev Emmanuel Anyambod is pregnant with uncertainty. The future of the Man of God is on the balance as he does not know where to fit in the Presbyterian Church structure. Worst of all, he can be arrested at any moment given that his dismissal at the helm of the Protestant University cannot be unconnected with the murder on July 8, 2012 of the 31 year old French lecturer, Eric de Putter in his residence at the campus of the
Protestant University situated at Etoa Meki in Yaounde. In fact the French lecturer, Eric de Putter was stabbed to death with a knife. The Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Sciences, Jean Bosco Nguend was arrested and detained after the assassination of the French Lecturer of Theology, Eric de Putter. The Dean was the second person
to be arrested after the murder of the French Lecturer. Prior to the Dean’s arrest, Rev Father Barko Nado a Central African Priest who was studying in that faculty was arrested by police for questioning. It was alleged that a strained relationship existed between Rev Father Barko Nado and Eric de Putter. In actual fact, Eric de Putter had rejected the thesis of Rev Father Barko Nado on grounds that it was mediocre. It is being alleged that the Central African priest could have been the person who staged managed the assassination of the French lecturer.

Rev Prof Emmanuel Anyambod’s Fate
It is clear that
Rev Anyambod had no hand in the killing of the French lecturer. Yet his
position as the head of that structure may warrant him to give statements to the police. If he is called up to do as mere investigating procedures, there would be no problem. But if he is arrested and detained for questioning, that would pose a major problem within the PCC. Actually, the PCC is going through some tough times with assassination stories. Yet the PCC is as a matter of urgency look for means to reintegrate Rev Emmanuel Anyambod into the fold of authority. It was his position as Rector that barred him from competing into elective positions in the PCC. It is even alleged that Rev Anyambod was tipped as the person to replace Rt Rev Nyansako ni-nku as the Moderator of the PCC. And that through a gentlemanly agreement, he decided to step aside to allow Rev Festus Asana gun for the position of Moderator. Would Rev Festus Asana forsake him now is the question on so many lips. Although as rector, he was chairman of one of the strategic committees in the PCC. But analysts hold that this is not enough for a man of his caliber.
While Rev Prof Emmanuel Anyambod is meditating on his future, authorities of the PCC too are confused on what to do with him. However, many people are of the opinion that
his destitution from the Protestant University is a greater opening for him to rise to the position of PCC Moderator. And that he has enough time now to mobilize and galvanize his way through to the top. In this wise his supporters hold strongly that Rev Festus Asana should diplomatically not seek a second five year term of office when the first tenure ends next year. This they argue is to allow Rev Emmanuel Anyambod to fulfill his dream of Moderator, a dream he forfeited to Rev Festus Asana because of his position as Rector of UPAC. However, all these suppositions depend on what happens to Rev Emmanuel Anyambod between now and when elections are scheduled. Chances are that he can be victimized and arrested to clarify the murder of the French lecturer. This would greatly compromise his chances of gunning for the Moderatorship, should he be detained. This is more so as the Dean of the faculty where the French lecturer was employed was nabbed and thrown into Kondengui to help with investigation. Should the assassin be found and things clarified, this would absolve Rev Emmanuel Anyambod of any responsibility of the murder of the French lecturer.
Equally, the PCC could do reappointments in order to reintegrate Rev
Emmanuel Anyambod, one of the few Men of God that have served the PCC
diligently. If this is done, then the PCC would have recognized merit and the
sacrifices of Prof Emmanuelposition as the head of that structure may warrant him to give statements to the police. If he is called up to do as mere investigating procedures, there would be no problem. But if he is arrested and detained for questioning, that would pose a major problem within the PCC. Anyambod. But before this is done, there is no gainsaying that Rev Emmanuel
Anyambod is one of the icons in the PCC and to be left in the cool for long woul
