Rev Donald Ndichafah, has just
toe weeks, by Chronicle’s press time to quit the helm of the Cameroon Baptist
Convention, CBC. He has served as the General Secretary for his due mandate of
4 years. He did not stand for re-election at the CBC convention at Ndu
recently. A new General Secreaty Ncham Godwin was elected. Chronicle is aware
that the official handing over from Rev Ndichafah to Rev Ncham takes place on
June 24, 2012 at the Nkwen Baptist headquarters. Yet, last weekend, Chronicle
learnt that Ndichafah wants to extend his mandate above June 24.
Ndichafah officially hands over
on June 24, yet, has secured a visa to represent the CBC at the world Baptist
Alliance conference at Chili from July 2, 2012. Ndichafah would be there as the
General Secretary of CBC, whereas he must have handed over to Rev Ncham Godwin,
on June 24. This, Chronicle has been
told has created a controversy.
Ahead of the Chili conference,
Chronicle learnt that Ndichafah long secured a visa to attend the conference.
But he brought-up the issue given that
he requested the CBC hierarchy to pay his flight and sponsor his stay at Chili.
Chronicle however learnt that CBC
officials suspected a ploy. Accordingly, because Rev Godwin Ncham would
officially receive the mantle on June 24, doubts hang over Ndichafah’s role
thereafter. It is for this reason that Chronicle gathered, authorities at the
CBC Nkwen headquarters have been worried about the stakes.
CBC, Chronicle gathered, had been
invited to Chili for the world Baptist Alliance with two tickets. One for the
women, which as Chronicle Madam Sama Ndi had obtained her visa and ticket. For
the men, Ndichafah forced himself and had obtained his visa, yet requested CBC
to pay for his ticket. Chronicle got wind about Ndichafah’s mess given his
insistence to be at Chili for the conclave. Accordingly, having secured a visa,
Ndichafah want to be at Chili as the outgone CBC general secretary. Chronicle
gathered the he wants to be at Chili to present self as the outgone General
Secretary of CBC, then introduce Rev Ncham as his successor.
Yet, this move has been thwarted.
Chronicle gathered that CBC is not prepared to finance Ndichafah in Chili, to
postulate in the name of the church. Chronicle has been told that if he had
good faith, he would have either informed Joe Chebonkeng Kalabutse, the
retained CBC president, to request the church and not him.
By press time, Chronicle learnt
that CBC authorities had okayed to sponsor the Women’s wing president Mme Sama
Ndi; that Ndichafah might not be there. Justifying Chronicle was told that it
would either be Rev Godwin Ncham or Joe Chebonkeng Kalabutse. But given that none of them had
secured the visa, a fortnight to the event, CBC would not sponsor an outgone
General Secretary in Chili. Worse still, Ndichafah’s trappings are
questionable.
