Has Rev Wara Been Suspended or Actually Dismissed From PCC?

- Suspicion Hang Over S. African Connection Involving 6 Pastors With Only One Targeted
By Tegha Otega
Almost a fortnight after the decision fell from Kumba, over Rev Solomon Che Wara’s fate within the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC many doubts still hang. Last week, (June 13, 2012) Rev Wara in a press release, attached a copy of his termination, for public appraisal. Chronicle however learnt that this was provoked by allegations that he had not been dismissed but simply ‘suspended’. Chronicle also gathered that some PCC officials even phoned Rev Wara to alert him how it was not a situation of ‘dismissal’ but ‘suspension’. By press time however, Rev Wara had not indicated/reacted to the PCC decision. Chronicle was however told by sources that the Man-of-God had been crestfallen by the ploy and mafia allegedly behind him. Accordingly, he was persuaded to quit South Africa, recently where he was undergoing a course alongside five (5) other PCC pastors. But then while he returned others stayed back, but had since been dismissed. PCC hierarchy has since been faulted as it has been mute over the other five.
According to a correspondence signed June 2, 2012 by Rev Abwenzoh William Membong, Synod Clerk of PCC, a copy of which Chronicle has, addressed to Rev Che Wara Solomon, titled: ‘Confirmation of Termination’, PCC’s stand is streamlined ‘… you have terminated your services with the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon’, it reads, adding that ‘you remain a Christian of the PCC if you so desire, but cease from being considered as a clergy of the said Presbyterian Church in Cameroon’.
Reverend Wara’s termination letter is copied to the PCC Moderator, Financial Secretary, Secretary Committee of the Ministry, Moderator’s representative North West and all Presbyterian secretaries of PCC. To analysts, it is no more a situation of filing a petition. Accordingly, Rev Wara had since been given a free ticket by PCC to do what ever he likes.
Could this have been why an English weekly tabloid alleged that Rev Wara had already come up with his own ministry tagged, ‘Zion Family’. Yet, one of the followers of Rev Wara told Chronicle that they are yet to decide. Even in Rev Wara’s press release, reminds that ‘God is spirit and those who shepherd the flock that worship him must do so in spirit and in truth. (John 4: 24).
Last Sunday, June 17, 2012 Rev Wara held a massive worship service at the Bamenda congress hall. He was not operating under a specific name, but as Chronicle was told, it would have been absurd to have left his followers groping in the dark following the controversy. Chronicle was further told that Rev Wara had initially programmed a crusade at the Bamenda congress hall on Sunday June 10, 2012 but had to shift it to the Nkankwi hall at Ngomgham on same day.
Reports hold that despite the confusion in the venue, at least 2000 Christians worshipped with Rev Wara at the Nkanikwi hall. Some of the worshippers Chronicle was told, were at PC Ngomgham that same day and roved to be blessed by the healing Rev Wara.
One of Rev Wara’s apostles hinted Chronicle that all was a jinx. She said Rev Wara was in South Africa to pursue further studies with five (5) other PCC pastors: that he was threatened alongside his folk to return. But as Rev Wara returned, he was dismissed while the other five (5) have no trouble. Only one of them (serving in the Ndop presbytery) was punitive transferred to the Akwaya area: that the other four (4), names withheld are still in South Africa unperturbed.
Many have questioned whether Rev Wara is persecuted, given that he performs healing and deliverance, which his hierarchy cannot. Rev Wara’s silence and ‘empty’ reaction to his termination has even been more preoccupying. By press time, no concrete scheme had been stated by the dismissed Wara though allegations are rife that some upbeat Christians had offered halls for him to operate, others donated enormously, so that he sails in his mission.
