Ndop GBPS Headteacher Snobs Basic Education;

- Answerable To Secondary Education Principal
By Shey Wirba
Geraldine Timbong, Headteacher of the Government Practicing School (GPS) Bamunka Ndop is in her own world. Her interpretation of the presidential text reorganizing both the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education respectively are different/unique. Chronicle gathered recently that she prefers to link herself with the Ministry of Secondary Eduaiton, than with Basic. According to reports, she even snobs orders from Suzan Fon, North West Delegate of Basic Education.
The Bamunka GPS headteacher, Chronicle gathered instead takes orders but from a certain Pokuna, Principal of the Government Teachers Training College, GTTC, Ndop. And following Chronicle’s investigations, we gathered that Geraldine Timbong has been priding herself as a super-being: that with the recent reorganization by President Biya, wherein Teacher Training Colleges shift from Basic to Secondary Education, her school GPS Ndop thus follows suit.
When Chronicle questioned an official at the Ministry of Basic Education in Yaounde to comment to clarify the Ndop GPS controversy, we were told that there was no cause for alarm. Accordingly, GPS Ndop falls under the ministry of Basic Education; that though GTTC Ndop has been moved to Secondary Education, GPS Ndop and all other practicing schools remain with Basic Education.
At the North West regional delegate of Basic Education, Chronicle was told that Geraldine Timbong had long been unanswerable to them. Chronicle was further told that it was from the Principal of GTTC Ndop, from whom Geraldine received instructions and not from the Delegation in Bamenda. Accordingly, all directives for Geraldine to sit-up have been futile.
The recalcitrance of Geraldine Timbong is what Chronicle gathered, would land her in trouble. Allegations are rife that she may by replaced just to jolt her about the realities in administration.
During the last First School Leaving Certificate examinations, FSLC, Geraldine Timbong was nowhere to be found. Suzan Fon, the dynamic regional delegate for Basic Education moved from Ndop to Babessi in at least six examination centres. Yet, as Chronicle gathered, Geraldine Timbong has been myopic to attach herself to Dokuna, Principal of GTTC Ndop.
