CAMCCUL: Musa Shey Nfor’s Fate Sealed!

Musa Shey Nfor has been confirmed as the Chieftain of the Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League, CAMCCUL for the next 3 years, renewable once. Delegates attending the 44th Annual General Assembly, AGM resolved and shunned a handful of those identified as ‘detractors’; Awah Cho Fobuzi (AC Risky) Mochiggle Vaningansen and Judith Awondo, were even spotted leading a gang intending to disrupt the CAMCCUL conclave. This was last Saturday, June 30, 2012 in Bamenda. After allegedly distributing some 5000 tracts around Bamenda, they led some 23 Okada riders with placards to the venue of the meeting, yet, could go nowhere. Allegations were even rife that everything was being stage-managed from Ngaoundere and Ntarinkon respectively, for obvious reasons.
Yet amongst over a dozen resolutions, (details on page 12), was the controversial case on the mandate of credit union presidents and other officials of the CamCCUL network. It was therefore resolved that the decision of the extraordinary general meeting of December 3, 2011 of Buea remain binding and enforceable until changed by the same body since the law is not retrospective.
On this premises, credit unions and CAMCCUL presidents et al, shall have 3 years’ mandate renewable thrice. Calling on some credit union officials to desist from blackmailing and witch-hunting CamCCUL president and others, the participants resolved to sanction the perpetrators of trouble in the network.
Equally, the members decided that the taxes of credit unions should be reviewed and risk management premium reduced from July 2012.
On the Njinikom pioneer credit union which is in crisis, it was equally resolved that all credit unions should jointly assist it to come out of the crisis it’s facing which may lead to its death.
In an exclusive interview with Shey Nfor Musa, he opined that the peaceful and successful deliberations of the meeting is a victory for all credit unionist affiliated to CamCCUL. He observed that the presence of the representatives of the ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development and Finance, including the representative of the Governor of the North West region and the personal presence of Procureur General for the Region, encouraged delegates and proved the transparency of the network.
Earlier in his address, the Government Delegate to the Bamenda city council, Vincent Nji Ndumu doffed his hat to credit unions affiliated to CamCCUL for alleviating poverty, improving standards of living and curbing rural-exodus. He was happy to announce that CamCCUL will fund the tarring of 280km of roads within Bamenda to the tune of FCFA 50 billion and also fund the Bamenda mult-purpose bus station expected to be constructed at Up-station at the tune of FCFA 3 billion.
Above all, it was resolved that all the decisions arrived at in the meeting, shall be implemented as from July 2012; and the CamCCUL authorities enjoined to install a lift and water facilities in the newly constructed CamCCUL tower building along the Bamenda commercial avenue.
Before the 44th annual general meeting of CamCCUL started on Saturday June 30, 2012, some enemies of progress hired motor-bike riders to block the entrance into AZAM hotel where the meeting was; holding with placards but they were chased away by the forces of law and order. All the motor-bike riders came from Ntarinkon for obvious reasons.
One of the organizers of the protest demonstration was a Bamenda based economic operator, Awah Cho Fobuzie popularly called A.C Risky. He went as far as granting interviews to the press as to why Shey Nfor Mus must leave CamCCUL as president.
In his flimsy excuse, he argued that Shey Nfor Musa has constructed an edifice in Nkambe, the divisional headquarters of Donga-Mantung as CamCCUL building and is currently constructing over 6 storey building at Commercial avenue for CamCCUL; which according to him, is not a priority project for the network.
Earlier in the Bamenda chapter meeting in Bamenda, delegates doffed their hats to Shey Musa for his foresightedness. They opine that with the rapidly growing population of Bamenda it was just very wise for such structures to be put up. The delegates were even told that most companies have already book for rooms in the building.
