Catholic Charismatic Renewal To Hold Groundbreaking Congress

Over 2000 delegates drawn from across the 25 Dioceses in Cameroon will be in Bamenda from Tuesday, 31st July to Sunday 5th August 2012 for the 4th National Congress of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR).
The congress to hold on the theme: “Salt of the Earth, Light of the World” shall bring together Bishops, Priests, religious and other Christ’s lay faithful. Highlights shall include formation talks for priest, how the CCR is looked upon in the church and other formation talks for the youths.
Briefing the press on the forth-coming CCR congress, the Bamenda Archdiocesean coordinator, Mr. Nkountchou Robert said as host diocese, they have done much to see that delegates who will come from all over Cameroon will feel really at home in Bamenda. He said all lodging arrangements have been made with their different partners like Ayaba hotel and some school institutions and other companies like Amour Mezam for transportation, Camtel and Brasseries. He also said delegates will be able to have three square meals a day and their greatest objective would be that the delegates would return to their dioceses visibly satisfied.
Complementing, the Archdiocesan chaplain, Rev Fr. Ernest Timchia Tubuo explaining on the spiritual aspect said there shall also be intercession prayers, moments of adoration. With the Blesses sacrament and praises. He further said the CCR is different from other Pentecostal movements in that instead of people striving to have immediate healing or solutions to their problems, the CCR rather helps them to have an inner feeling which is more consoling. Further, the CCR as a movement also helps people to know the gifts of God and how they can develop those gifts which is not only that of healing.
Worthy of note is the fact that the CCR is a reality, a phenomenon that the holy spirit had given the church, that is why nobody can boast as being its founder. The CCR in Cameroon started in 1967 and is about 25 years old in the Archdiocese of Bamenda.
