Fon Doh’s Cry-Die Postponed!

Biya’s Delay To Decree Official Funeral Shifts Event For January 2013
By Shey Wirba
This weekend, sons, daughters and friends of Balikumbat were to be at the plateau palace for the funeral of Fon Doh Gah Gwanyim III. Yet, last week, Balikumbat palace sources hinted Chronicle that the event had been shifted to January 3, 4 and 5, 2013. The reasons were not very explicit, though Chronicle gathered that it could not be unconnected to preparations, which had not been well fine-tuned.
Chronicle further learnt that given that Fon Doh was a pillar, all was being done to accord him the type of funeral commensurate to this status. A presidential insider however confided in Chronicle that the Head of State has been expecting the final program to thereon decree an “official funeral”.
No one doubts the fact that Fon Doh would be decreed an official funeral. His political activities were those that caught the attention of the Head of State. Fon Doh was the lone Member of Parliament, MP for the CPDM in North West, therefore saved CPDM to be a national party. Fon Doh took the risk to adhere with CPDM at a time it was a taboo in North West.
Fon Doh got missing last September 1, 2012 as a CPDM central committee member. His funeral could no doubt pull a huge crowd with varied delegations represented.
Apart from the fact that the Head of State would send an envoy with a message, there would also be a CPDM central committee delegation at the funeral. The secretary general Jean Nkuete may no doubt personally be at Balikumbat.
Also, as  a former MP and member of the bureau of the National Assembly, a fortified delegation of MPs would be in Balikumbat. It is believed that one of the reasons for the postponement is because the initial dates of December 1, 2, 2012 slated, coincides with the ongoing session of parliament. By January 3, 4 and 5, 2013 therefore, when everyone would be free, has been deemed necessary to stage the funeral.
Within Balikumbat, expectations are high. Committees set-up for the funeral, Chronicle gathered are set for the event. The thorny issue of the road leading to the palace is being found a solution to.
Palace sources hinted Chronicle that on January 3, 2013 some traditional rites would be performed. Then the next day, the funeral proper would be staged. All the Balis would converge at Balikumbat within these three days, represented by the Fons and notables.
This would be the second outing of Fon Doh Gah Nyamyi, the new fon of Balikumbat. Upon his enthronement last September, he was presented to the public, even before the Ngoketunjia administration conducted its own consultations to endorse him as the new fon.
