Town Crier (316)

Country people,
Welcome to this special gist. I say special because it is the first since the trail of Marafa began. Marafa! That wonder boy from Garoua. Popoul is so frightened of what could happen he dares not step out of the country. You saw the mammoth crowd at the Mfoundi high court. Unprecedented. Almost 5000. troops found the crowd almost uncontrollable as people shouted “Marafa our Presiden! Marafa our President”. Earlier some had shouted “when will your 5th letter come out?” of course, you know why the fifth missive is not out. Sultan Mbombo Njoya, acting on behalf of the Popoul regime visited and pleaded with Marafa that he should not let the fifth letter see the light of day. If only the trial could take place in secret, Popoul would have ordered it. But you know you can’t eat a crab in secret. Popoul looks old worn out and tired. You saw him on TV walk. His steps were tottering like that of a toddler. You know he will be 80 nest month. But Cardinal Tumi at above that age looks stronger. Obviously it is not just age; Popoul has so many troubles and problems it can be said he has a lot of troublems. First, the North is in a state of near rebellion because of Marafa. If he sets Marafa free, supporters of the other detainees will rise in arms against him. Secondly the looming strike over increased fuel prices. Thirdly, Mama Chantoux is nowhere to be seen. Last week I gave you the speculations- alleged pregnancy for another man, she is on crutches, she is in France taking care of her mother; she is vexed by Marafa’s arrest etc. etc. You see, Popoul had to travel to Congo without her. It was indeed a reluctant journey which he undertook in a hired plane. He dared not take CAMAIRCO. And he only went because Denis Sassou Nguesso is his friend. Now Popoul is back. Don’t be surprised he appoints SDOs. You know it has been long since governors were appointed. We only hope he doesn’t include dead people in the list; for reasons already advanced he is old and his memory is bound to be faulty. I pray he hands power to a younger person. Nordist would have been the most suitable to back Ahidjo’s ‘njangi. But you know Nordists hardly forgive. Popoul doesn’t really like anglos. Otherwise we would have been talking of Yang Philemon, who masterminded “Popoul: the people’s call” to give him legitimacy and consequently another mandate. Poor Yang! He presided at a cabinet meeting which I am afraid, could be his last. I am always scared each time this happens. Popoul has always been unpredictable. This time fear has made him metamorphose into something else. The fear of Marafa is the beginning of real political wisdom for him. He is thinking of appointing another Nordist with Marafa’s trappings, brilliance, charisma and popularity. Multibillionaire Bayero Fadhil seems to qualify. I hear mobile corpse, Pa Simon will be appointed senate president. You know Popoul finds nothing wrong with age. He would not mind going to the grave yard to appoint the likes of Gilbert Andze Tsoungui and Enoch Kwayeb. He feels secured in the midst of such persons because none of them has any intention to overthrow him given that they chop freely. These are the people doing everything to prop and protect humpty dumpy. Talking about security if not of that, what is the raison d’etre of a 3-day confab held by governors, given that they no longer control elections? And what is at stake? A possible nationwide strike to protest a planned increase in fuel prices occasioned by an imminent suppression of government subsidies on petrol prices. Transporters met with Yang. I hear their leaders have been “lapiroed’ with mouth-watering sums so that no strikes hold. But that doesn’t really matter. There will be mayhem when or if the fuel prices are increased.
Country people, never you underestimate these oyibos. They are behind this idea of increase in fuel prices. Remember they didn’t want Popoul to stand for the 2011 presidentials but he used the platform of The People’s Choice to stubbornly do so. Now they (IMF) want a popular uprising by Cameroonians to do it. And suppression of subsidy on petrol will provide that platform. The Marafa trial which began last week could be the assembly point for such an uprising to start. Look at the confusion around the Mfoundi high court. No access to vehicles and pedestrians. Marafa and Meva Meboutou are really for a showdown in court. The judges are determined with earlier pledges that matter will on daily until judgment is handed down. Remember that nobody caught in epervier ever goes free. Marafa’s real crime, you all know is that he told Popoul he wants to be president and Popoul thinks no Cameroonian except himself should be. Tenoh Lawrence is therefore more a criminal than Marafa because he is actually a thief. He embezzled stamps’ money. I hear life jail awaits him. He will appear in court on Friday, August 2. I hear a new mayor for Batibo will be elected in two weeks. I hope it will be the first deputy who is not only very competent and transparent, but very accommodating. Just like in Tenoh’s case, hard luck for Mrs Kontchou Kouemegni; wife of ‘Zero Mort”. She is detained at New Bell prison. Mrs. Zero Mort is the proprietor of Franco Hotel in Yaounde. She and others were involved in 419. Her fellow VIP inmate Zacheus Forjindam is said to have joined the rank of official letter writers. I hear he wrote to Popoul. Or is it just a scheme to tarnish his image? A message planted ont eh internet by some unknown persons claim that Forjindam is seeking the intervention of Popoul in his matter. Yet, he has a genuine case. Imagine 15 years and life jail. From the time Laurent Esso was appointed Justice Minister I know Forjindam was doomed. I regretted why Forjindam appealed his case. Hard hearted Laurent Esso monster.
Country people, whether you agree with me or not; I know Forjindam is being victimized so that the Limbe shipyard project should collapse and the project transferred to Kribi and he said so during his trial. Southern Cameroons therefore have reasons to press for a break away from La Republique. Even Bamis whom we thought were our brothers are even worse than the other frogs. Popoul knows this. Reason why they are daily appointed to take over strategic posts in Southern Cameroons. North West Governor is Bami. So is Ngoketunjia SDO Valery Kuelo who is always boasting that the Governors is his tribesman so he can do anything in Ngoketunjia and get away with it. Bamileke neocolonialism is now very visible in Abakwa. Imagine that after removing the very people-friendly Jean Baba as Ayaba Director he was replaced by a Bami. Even at the Catholic university where merit should reign, we still find Bamis dominating even in the social sciences whereas their domain is the empirical sciences. Archbishop Tonye Bakot denounced this domination, but that was sheer hypocrisy. Where was he in the first place when this happened. In the midst of all these injustices we pray for good health. Unfortunately your town crier’s friends are nearly all in bad shape. P.K the philosopher, exclusive, the fon of Fomangum. Except a miracle occurs, none of them will attend the publishers meeting in Limbe on August 3. I beg you my country people do everything to stay in good health because health is wealth. Do you still eat pork? If you do, stop it because of the African swine fever that is attacking these animals. Several pigs have been slaughtered and thrown away following the outbreak. As a result a kilogram of pork was sold at a give away price of 200 FCFA in Bafoussam. Don’t be attracted by the cheap price and buy what can terminate your life. July 28 is World Hepatitis Day. Cameroon ranks second in Africa in hepatitis rate. Its prevalence is 10%. Our Moslem brothers who are in the midst of Ramadan Moslem fasting should not fail to include good health in their prayers. They really need to pray for Cameroon. I have in mind good friends lie El Hadj Baba Danpullo. They will have to deprive themselves of food during the day in order to fortify and sanctify their spirits and their faith in Allah. I also pray Baba Danpullo reconsiders his decision to celebrate Ramadan at Ndawara. You need to be present there only once. It would seem the whole world is there. I just imagine how much gombo is squandered.
Country people, let us also pray for the people of Syria in the process of being massacred by a power monster Bashir Al Assad, their President. How can a man turn the fighter jets, helicopter gunships and tanks which should defend his people against those same people/ although he is threatening to use chemical weapons only against foreign invaders, he has actually started using them against fellow Syrians. He has ignored a call by the Arab league for him to step down. Rather, he accuses the league of supplying arms to the rebels. Yankee secretary of state, Hilary Clinton blames Russia and China for obstructing the passage of a UN resolution which would have permitted an intervention by the international community to intervene in Syria. But I blame the Yankees. The democrats have a culture of watching people in order lands being slaughtered because of the policy of rational self-interest. The democrats under Bill Clinton folded their arms and watched from afar how 800.000 people were being slaughtered in Rwanda in 1994. Here is Barrack Obama watching while Syrians are being massacred. He is being too cautious about intervention because he wants to win elections at all cost. That is also why he permitted gay marriages. Even after Syria has announced it has chemical weapons, the Yankees can only grumble. But his predecessor, George Bush Junior, the Butcher slaughtered 100.000 Iraqi’s and hanged Saddam Hussein on mere suspicion that Iraq had chemical weapons which she didn’t . So serve the Yankees right. Finally on the Syrian issue, I blame those extremists within the opposition who opposed the idea of foreign troops on the ground. That is misapplication of patriotism. Assad has all the weapons to crush them; only foreign intervention can liberate Syria. Life goes on in the rest of the world except Syria, DR Congo and a few other areas. In Nigeria it is not war. At least Boko Haram is quiet for now. It is democracy in action with parliament threatening to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan for poor execution of the state budget midway into the financial year. Parliament has threatened to impeach him if he fails to improve performance.
Allasane Ouattara, the French puppet in Ivory Coast, not with his puppet master, Francois Holland at Champs Elysees, the French seat of government. Both promised to fox out closer ties and try to diffuse the tension in Ivory Coast. France decided to cancel Ivorian debts of more than 3 billion euros. They also discussed Mali’s situation, France promising to support the stand of the toothless bulldog African Union. Ouattara who is married to a French kofngom can’t do anything except what pleases his French slave master. This is where I respect Popoul. Popoul has not bothered to visit Hollande. He ended at a congratulatory message to him. Popoul has opened up to China, Turkey, Brazil etc indirectly telling the French to go to hell if they care. He even sent messages of goodwill to leaders of the so-called rogue regimes- those of Iran and Venezuela in open defiance of the Yankees. I won’t be surprised if he sends a similar message to North Korea.
Farewell, a long farewell to John Atta Mills, Ghanaian leader who succumbed to the soul taker at the age of 68 after being nominated by his national congress party as their presidential candidate in the upcoming December 2012 presidential election. God had a different agenda for him. Atta Mills who won the 2000 election in Ghana was once vice president under Jerry Rawlings. He died of cancer which affected both his eyes and ears making it impossible for him to sustain anything for more than 3 hours a day. A week of national mourning was declared after new president John Dramani took over. Ghanaians seem to have fallen in love with the name John in the domain of leadership- John Kufor, John Atta Mills, John Dramani. I like Ghanaians for their commitment to democracy.
Country people, I like it when Oyibos who fan disunity in other countries nail each other. I am talking here about Yankee republican presidential candidate who made disparaging remarks about 64s the company that undertook to provide security for the ongoing Olympic games in London. The company could not meet up with required number. Boris Johnson, Mayor of London bit back in defence of the company. David Cameron, British PM upheld the views of the London Mayor saying it is easy to hold the Olympic games in the middle of nowhere. He concluded that London is the busiest loveliest and nicest city in the world. Mitt Romney was in Britain and Israel to build his image. Country people, it is during the Olympics that I know English people love their country. Virtually everyone is a praise singer for England. Even the almighty BBC joined in the panegyric placing the games even above killings in Syria, Iraq and Yankee land. Talking of killings, I am ashamed of Rwandan president; Paul Kagame whom I am convinced is backing the rebels in DR Congo through arms supply although he denies the accusation. He may face charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity at the international criminal court in The Hague. More than 250.000 people have been displaced by the fighting which began last April 2012. The Yankees have even cut military assistance to Rwanda because of Rwanda’s alleged support for the M23 Rebels. Rwanda shouldn’t be the country supporting killings, maiming and rape in another African country when the whole world is till sympathetic with victims of the Rwandan genocide of 1994. I hate killers. That is why I hate what is also happening in Iraq where over 110 people were killed in a single attack in a day by unidentified gunmen. The gunmen targeted a military base in Baghdad. Poor Iraq. A peaceful country in the days of Saddam before these badluck Yankees invaded the country and upset its equilibrium.
County people for the sake of time, I will just give you the rest of the gist without bothering to correlate them. The BBC has changed gear. Instead of News Hour, we have News Day. Network Africa has been scrapped. I am not confortable with the changes. What would a man be doing with tones of ammunition and millions of dollars in his house? I am talking about a man who police arrested in the South American country of Chili. HIV/AIDS remains the number one killer. Fortunately, the Yankees after TRAVURA which reduces risks of infection in a relationship were one partner is seropositive and the other negative, here comes another vaccine. Interestingly a drug meant for the cure of cancer which can flush HIV out of a patient. But this would take time to confirm. The drug can easily be accepted because it has been produced by Oyibo scientists or in Oyiboland. When it is Anomah Ngu’s VANHIVAX, Dr. Dewah’s Disbuilder, or Dr. Fru’s AOT, Oyibos turn a blind eye. All eyes are focused on London. I mean all sportive eyes. The London 2012 olympics has witnessed the largest Armada of security deployment since world war II. 1200 troops added to 3500 since 64s confessed it could not provide enough guard. It could only provide 6000 out of 10.000 guards. Honestly, the figures of expenditure and other statistics on the Olympic are mind boggling. I will gist you next time. Meanwhile the friction between Eto’o and Iya Mohammed continues with Iya determined Eto’o be stripped of Lions captainship. More next week.
