No one could imagine that this
year’s All Saints Day in Balikumbat cold have been different from the previous.
Yet, Dr. Dewah the renowned international Modern Traditional Doctor created the
unexpected. At the St. Mary Catholic church in
Balikumbat, the event epitomized Dr. Dewah’s dedication to God and a special
thanksgiving; then general euphoria. It spanned from the St Mary parish to Dr.
Dewah’s auspicious palace, in what Chronicle subsumed as an event encompassing
three (3) scenes.
Last year, when
Dr. Dewah performed same spiritual rite, faithfuls merely shared in his acts of
commitedness. Pupils of the St Mary Catholic Primary School were honoured with
varied scholarships.
Last November
1, though the setting remained the St Mary parish, the excitement was more
rhapsodized and engaging given that Dr. Dewah was presented a crucifix by the
Rev Father.
Enter Rev Father Joseph Nchituh
He is the parish priest of the St
Mary Catholic Church in Balikumbat and was chief celebrant of the mass last
November 1, 2012. Drawing afflatus from the books of Isaiah, Corinthians and
Luke, Rev Father Nchituh placed his message under the theme “To acknowledge
others, to say than you to others is the mark of greatness”.
Rev Father
Nchituh disclosed that the November 1, 2012 celebration was at the request of
Dr. Edward Dewah, on behalf of his family. He said Dr. Dewah had come to thank
God for all the good things that came their way throughout 2012, nothing “in everything, give thanks for this is the
will of God’. He noted that every November 1 and 2, the Catholic Christian
community celebrate the Feasts of All Saints (Nov. 1) and the feast of All
Souls (Nov. 2); reason why all joined Dr. Dewah and his family in the
thanksgiving to God.
Rev Father
Nchituh recalled some of the instances how the Lord has done great things for
Dr. Dewah and family in 2012; reason why he has humbly and publicly praised and
thank God for his marvelous deeds; without attributing any merits to himself:
that in celebrating the feast day in thanksgiving, Dr. Dewah attributes to God
every good thing that has happened “to
his family, in his business, among his workers, in his production unit, in his
clinics, in his building construction, in his international and national
outreach…”.
The priest
thereon congratulated Dr. Dewah, noting how very often, we fail to thank God
Almighty for all the benefits received from him. He noted how today, Dr. Dewah
stands out as the only one who came back to say thank you to God for what God
has done for him and his family. He recalled how since November 1, 2008 till
date, prayers occupy a central position in Dr. Dewah’s family. He further
opined how Dr. Dewah is not a saint and neither is he canonizing him.
Crux of the Celebrations
A special gift was handed to Dr.
Dewah alongside his first wife, Dr. Mrs Anna Dewah, being a crucifix: the
status of our lady. To this, the priest averred how it equates Dr. Dewah as
very humble, simple and a man of great faith. November 1, coincidentally was
the birthday of Dr Dewah’s first daughter, Susan Dewah.
Dr. Dewah exploited the All
Saints Day to conduct a special song, composed by his 4 wives. This preceded an
exceptional thanksgiving which he led in a euphoric procession and dance.
Even after the
mass at the St Mary parish, action moved to Dr. Dewah’s palace where a private
chapel, was dedicated. The crucifix was adorned and placed in the chapel.
Dr. Dewah Speaks
The 3 scenes on the All Saints
Day were: the St Mary church; Dr. Dewah’s private chapel then his palace for
reception. Dr. Dewah actually addressed guests at his palace. EvenValerie
Kuela, the Senior Divisional Officer for Ngoketunjia just like the Balikumbat
Divisional Officer, were at Dr. Dewah’s palace to live history.
At least six
fons were present, including some 50 journalists. Doctors of Dr. Dewah’s
clinics and a cross section of observers and musicians including the legendary
Takan II, Prince Afoakom, Bog Gala Didier were at Dr. Dewah’s palace.
The message of
the host was simple and unique: “Today, November 1, 2012 is the 5th
edition of this Dewah family feast”, he averred. He said it was a day a
revelation was made to him and his family to set aside for thanksgiving to God
for his goodness towards them.
Dr. Dewah has since been very
consistent in his thanksgiving every November 1. Being a feast day, Chronicle
effectively observed a feast. Food and drinks were in plenty at Dr. Dewah’s
palace at the tail-end of the feast. Budding musicians like Takan II, Prince
Yerima Afo-akom and Bob Gala Didier thrilled guests exceedingly. At least 1500
guests left, taking another rendezvous for November 1, 2013.
