Fon Doh’s Cry-Die Dec 1 & 2: Why Biya To Despatch Envoy, Message…

The mountains of Balikumbat, in Ngoketunjia North West region will be a beehive of activities on December 1 and 2, 2012. The exceptional grandeur of the palace plaza would be moreso, given the weight which Fon Doh Gah Gwanyin III pulled before he left the world last September 1, 2012. His cry-die is projected to be rich in attendance, colour. Already, President Paul Biya is expected to dispatch an envoy and message on that occasion.
A month to Fon Doh’s cry-die, Balikumbat subjects have been greatly mobilized to be at home. Chronicle learnt that various branches of the Balikumbat Development Organization, BADO have been tasked. It is expected not only to be a cry-die, but an occasion for the new Fon HRH Doh Gah Nyamyi III to prove his mettle.
Last September 21, 2012 Valerie Kuele, SDO for Ngoketunjia officially presented Fon Nyamyi III as Fon Doh’s successor. This was after he consulted kingmakers and notables. Shortly after the rite, Fon Nyamyi told Chronicle that his immediate pre-occupation would be to ensure the smooth organization of his father’s funeral.
With December 1 and 2 now confirmed, Chronicle learnt from Balikumbat palace sources that all is being put in place for a landmark funeral. Chronicle was further told that the presidency had ordered for the program, which had been despatched.
Fon Doh goes on record as one of the most outstanding fons, Cameroon ever had. Apart from being a traditionalist, he was a businessman and politician. Given his savoir faire, he carried the CPDM on his head. It was thanks to him that CPDM became a national party in 1995/96, following the outcome of the municipal and legislative elections then. Fon Doh rescued Biya with the lone CPDM parliamentary seat in North West.
President Biya, commentators hold, always has a way he compensates those who have been steadfast to him. It is highly probable that if Biya had not done this adequately, he would exploit Fon Doh’s cry-die to create and impact.
A fortified CPDM central committee delegation, would be expected in Balikumbat, apart from Biya’s personal envoy and goodies. Fon Doh was a central committee member before his demise. The cry-die many thus be transformed into a scene of reiterating CPDM’s dominance in Balikumbat, which Fon Doh incarnated.
Balikumbat sons and daughters would be united to show their loyalty to their traditional institution. Fon Doh’s cry-die would also present a new form of unity within and without the village. Neighbouring fons of Bafanji, Bamukumbit, Balighashu, Bambalang would be there. Also, the fons of the other Balis – Nyongha, Gashu, Gansen, Gam would liaise with their brethren.
One of the most remarkable caucus to be at the cry-die, would be a fortified delegation of the North West Fons Union, NOWEFU. Fon Doh was never a member of NOWEFU. Yet, upon the presentation of his successor, Fon Doh Nyamyi III last September 16, 2012 Fon Teche (NOWEFU president), was imposingly present with a team of fons. It is expected that rather than revive NOWEFCO, which his father headed, Fon Doh Nyamyi would become a bonafide member of NOWEFU.
