Big Challenges Awaiting New Bui & D/M SDOs

By Shey Wirba
If Donga/Mantung division has never had a Senior Divisional Officer of mettle, here comes the time. Bernard Ngone Ndode Mesape was installed last week at the 26th. North West Governor Adolph Lele Lafrique even qualified him as the Best SDO, he has ever had. Ndode Mesape left Kumbo (Bui) where he served as SDO for barely 2 years 4 months, yet received the most prismatic of acclamations before his departure. He meets a different scenario in Nkambe (Donga/Mantung), while Nzeki Theophile who left Nkambe for Kumbo has a task.
Njong Donatus Fonyuy, the outspoken Mayor of Kumbo sounded the salvo. He has already cautioned Nzeki that if he had no stress in Nkambe, he should be prepared for the unexpected in Kumbo (Bui): “This is a land of extremes; very good and cooperative people and very dangerous people of the underworld”; the Kumbo Mayor averred
Yet, despite the difficult Bui terrain, the Prime Minister’s constituency, Ndode Mesape found his way out. The outspoken Mayor Njong described him as “humble servant who never carried his office with him to the streets, market places nor to the congregation in church”.
Ndode Mesape was qualified as “the incarnation of charity”. According to Mayor Njong, the outgone SDO paid hospital bills and even school fees of citizens he had never known before. He visited the poor and down trodden and gladly shared a drink or a meal in a place where people of his caliber who carry their ego along will never visit.
The Kumbo landlord showered exceeding accolade on his outgone SDO, pinpointing how he will not hesitate to support any move aimed at developing the community and carrying the society forward. Mayor Njong noted that for his 2 years, 4 months in Kumbo, his billboard was progressive. His objective and open way of doing things resulted in petition writings, Mayor Njong noted.
Ndode Mesape is now in Nkambe. Mayor Mangoh Jones of Nkambe merely portrayed the lapses of Donga/Mantung- acute shortage of teachers, poor road infrastructure, water and electricity problems. Mangoh vouched to work with the new SDO for positivities.
If Ndode Mesape succeeded in Kumbo (Bui), it was because of his level headedness. Yet, as Mayor Njong has warned his successor, Nzeki Theophile: “If in Nkambe you had little or no stress, be ready to have more stress in Bui”, (Affair a suivre…)
